If you are gifted with a spacious lot, you would surely use it to add more footprints to your home.

Some prefer it as a garden or yard where they can spend time outdoors. Sounds better, doesn’t it?

This is why many homeowners prefer their own garden because they need a place to relax and unwind from hectic city life.

Would you like a home with a beautiful garden?

You can see that in the house we’re about to introduce today. It’s a project called Claremont Residence Extension by David Barr Architects. The new modern annex and back yard are for a pre-war suburban home in Claremont, Western Australia.

The project expands the house into the garden which overlooks beautiful mature trees on the property and in adjoining gardens. Outside, different spaces are created that include an inner courtyard, a formal lawn, a raised external dining area and a pool. It then retreats into the house through large areas with glazed openings.

This area is accessible when you step down from the pool. It’s a small patch of grass under a tree, while next to the lawn is an outside lounge with a fireplace.

This hallway leads to a raised outside kitchen and dining area. Note that the courtyard has beautiful flowers and tall trees.

Claremont Residence interior

A covered walkway connects the different areas of the new garden. It has operable wooden shades that provide shade if necessary.

Claremont Residence living room

This shade is provided for access to the outside area and is directly connected to the interior. Like the house, it is also in black and white.

Claremont Residence pool

There is a rectangular swimming pool next to the outdoor kitchen and dining area. A glass security fence surrounds the pool and provides an uninterrupted view of the back yard.

Concrete floors have been combined with white walls and black window and door frames in the house to give a clean and modern aesthetics. What you see here is a new living room that opens to the back yard through a large sliding glass door.

Claremont Residence bedroom

Here you can see the bedroom, which is also from the back yard. It also has a simple design with just white walls. The tall glass window and sliding door let in natural light.

Claremont Residence kitchen

A new kitchen was built in the house with American walnut cabinets, white worktops and a stone back wall. Isn’t that nice? The combination of wood and white looks very nice. The kitchen is also connected to the back yard by sliding doors.

The black frames that are used throughout the extension can also be found in the new bathroom with its simple, modern design. On the left you can see a window frame from the original house.

Isn’t that very nice? According to David Barr Architects the materials of the project are a juxtaposition between the masonry. It is “sagged” and painted white, while dark steel and wood elements connect them. There are also large sliding doors with hidden frames that open the large spaces to the garden and courtyards. It also features deep windows that open to the north, while operable wooden windows protect the western windows from the sun. Inside there is a low key palette of concrete floors, plasterboard walls, and American walnut joinery that highlight the client’s art and furniture collection. At the same time, it creates a backdrop for your young family to give vitality. Aside from the images above, the details the designer gave us certainly add more appeal to the home. Even if we only see the modern extension, we can say that the entire house is undoubtedly a gem! And the back yard is very relaxing and inviting now!
